Paxton's Local Academy Committee (LAC) comes from all walks of life and all backgrounds. Our role is to provide support and challenge to Paxton’s Leadership Team to set a strategic vision that raises the attainment and aspirations of all the children and families that Paxton proudly serves.
The members of the Local Academy Committee have been appointed on the basis of their skills, knowledge, and experience, creating a valuable group that provides effective governance and contributes to the success of Paxton Academy. To meet our LAC members, please click here.
The LAC works closely together with Paxton’s Leadership Team and the Wandle Learning Trust Board of Trustees to take on responsibilities for:
- Strategic Planning: The LAC works closely with the Headteacher to develop and review the school's strategic vision and goals. We agree on the school development plan and contribute to the creation of policies, oversee their implementation, and ensure that they align with the school's ethos and values. The LAC helps shape the direction of the school and ensure its long-term success.
- Performance Management: The LAC monitors the school's performance, including academic achievements, attendance rates, and the progress of students. We analyse data, ask challenging questions, and hold the school accountable for meeting targets and delivering high-quality education. The LAC helps identify areas for further development and celebrates successes.
- School Improvement: The LAC supports and challenges the school to continuously improve. We provide guidance on issues such as curriculum development, safeguarding, and staff recruitment and retention. We are involved in helping to set the school’s targets, such as for pupil progress and attainment, attendance, and closing the disadvantaged gap. The LAC supports Paxton’s Leadership Team to create an environment where students can thrive and reach their full potential.
- Stakeholder Engagement: The LAC acts as a link between the school and its stakeholders, including parents, staff, students, and the wider Croydon community. We respond to concerns and ensure that the voice of different stakeholders is heard. The LAC aims to foster a sense of community and collaboration, building positive relationships that benefit the school and its students.
